A Closer Look at the Box Mod

To put it simply, a box mod is like the battery in an e-cigarette. The clearomizer holds the e-liquid and makes the vapor, while the box mod houses the battery (which you can recharge) and the fire button.

However, over the past 10 years, box mods have evolved a lot due to user preferences. Nowadays, there are hundreds of designs available, and many of them use advanced electronics to enhance the vaping experience.

Even though some models are quite user-friendly, it’s important to carefully read the user manual before you start using one. Just like with other e-cigarettes, newer models might not always be better than older ones.

The choice between different box mods depends on what you’re specifically looking for. With the wide variety of box mods available, your decision still comes down to a few key factors.

Size of Its Battery

Many box mods with removable batteries use a type of battery called 18650 batteries. The number 18 represents their diameter in millimeters, 65 is their length, and 0 indicates that they’re cylindrical.

Single-battery box mods use just one of these batteries, while dual-battery box mods use two. This means that dual-battery mods can provide more power and longer battery life, even though they are smaller in size.

Another battery format commonly used in e-cigarettes is the 21700 format, though it’s not as widespread. These batteries are larger and also offer better performance in terms of both power and battery life.

They’re typically used as single batteries because using two of them would make the box mod quite bulky.

Electronic Vs. Mechanical Variants

The main difference in boxes is whether they’re electronic or mechanical.

Most boxes are electronic, which means they use a circuit to control the power sent to the atomizer. They also have safety features like protection from short circuits. This makes them compatible with various clearomizers.

Aside from that, you can adjust the power level to match the coil you’re using and manage battery output for longer use.

Mechanical mods, on the other hand, lack electronic circuits. They work with a simple mechanical switch and lack built-in safety features.

The vaping power in a mechanical mod depends on the coil and battery charge. While their design is simpler, using them safely requires knowledge. They’re mostly for experienced users who understand how to use them correctly.

Type of Battery

There are two main battery types that a box mod uses: built-in and removable batteries.

Built-in batteries are sealed inside the box. They have benefits like not needing separate purchases, being rechargeable via USB, and making the box smaller. The downside is that you can’t change them during the day, so you have to monitor your battery and remember to charge it.

Meanwhile, removable batteries can be easily replaced anytime you want. They look like large batteries and can last a long time. You can even swap them when they’re empty.

However, you must buy them separately and always keep them in a protective case.
